About me

I’m 23 years old and I’m from Dundee, Scotland. I love sports and keeping active, as well as travel, music, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I’m not a bad cook either. My hobbies are watching and training in martial arts.

Tell us about your experience studying with Al-Maktoum College

I’ve been at Al-Maktoum College since 2019, having started studying on the HNC in Business course, and I am now preparing to graduate after completing my HND. Before starting at Al-Maktoum College, I had tried studying twice in the past and dropped out both times. I was working full-time and struggled to balance my commitments. I decided to try studying again and was attracted to Al-Maktoum College because of the high-level teaching staff and the small class sizes. This allowed for a more intimate learning experience and is advantageous to the learner.

Aside from the learning and teaching experience, I made full use of the College’s facilities. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting out in the gardens at Al-Maktoum College when the weather was nice. They are beautifully kept and it was peaceful to sit and relax there between classes. When the weather was not so great, there is a great canteen to sit and relax in, with vending machines and a TV for students to use.

What was your favourite part of the course?

My favourite part about the course is the wide range of interesting topics covered and the manner in which they were delivered. I also enjoyed the access to resources. Everything I needed was available in the library, from a lecturer, or online through college platforms.

What are your plans for the future?

Now waiting to graduate from the College, I have been accepted into Abertay University to go directly into Year 3 of the Business Management with People Management degree programme which was made possible due to the articulation agreement between Al-Maktoum College and Abertay University.

Do you have any advice for prospective students?

To anyone who is considering studying at Al-Maktoum College, I would encourage you to go for it. You will be glad you did. Not only will you receive a high level of teaching but you will be supported and valued along the way. Alm College is very accommodating and strives to ensure the students have the best experience and receive the best education possible.

I was also very impressed with the way Al-Maktoum College pivoted and quickly put measures in place to provided online teaching to the students during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
