Dundee is Scotland’s fourth-largest city and is home to as many as 45,000 students per term time. The city is compact, easy to get around and is one of the most affordable cities in the UK for students to live in making it a student life hotspot.

Dundee boasts its highly scientific, historical and culturally orientated heritage. With a number of attractions situated around the city such as museums, science centre and theatres, there is much to be explored.

You should apply directly using the College online application system and your application will usually be assessed within 3 working days. We may contact you to provide further information or to invite you to a short informal interview.

What are the admission requirements for international students?

What is the process for obtaining a student visa to study in Scotland?

To apply for a Student Route Visa, you will need to hold an unconditional offer from Al-Maktoum College. This will enable you to request a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

As part of the UKVI Maintenance requirements, you must demonstrate that you have at least £9,207 in your bank account for a minimum of 28 consecutive days. The final date of this 28-day period must be within 31 days of submitting your visa application.

Additionally, you will need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency as part of the visa application process.

What accommodation options are available for international students?

The College does not own any student accommodation in or around Dundee, and so students will be expected to make their own living arrangements.

There are various student accommodations close to the College campus, and are normally in the form of multi-bedroom flats (apartments), with a communal kitchen/living space specially designed for students.

For those who do not wish to live in student accommodation or are bringing a family to Dundee, there are also options to rent from private landlords.

How does Al-Maktoum College support international students in adjusting to life in Scotland?

Our International Student Office offers orientation programmes, cultural integration workshops, social events, and ongoing support to help you acclimate to your new environment. We are committed to making your transition as smooth as possible.

Are there part-time work opportunities for international students while studying?

Master of Science (MSc) students who are enrolled at Al-Maktoum College are entitled to work up to 20 hours per week during term time. Additionally, upon graduation, these students are eligible to apply for a Post-Study Work (PSW) visa, allowing them to remain in the country and work for a certain period.

What health services are available to international students?
