The Al-Maktoum College has donated £1,000 to Shopmobility as part of it’s Community Fund project.
The Community Fund has been supporting community groups and charities in Dundee and the surrounding area since its formation in 2009, and has helped charities in various sectors, including residents’ associations, schools’ groups, sports’ clubs, youth groups, senior citizen organisations and more.
Shopmobility- a registered charity based in Dundee- offers a free service to those with ‘mobility issues by providing mobility scooters, power wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs for use in and around the city’.
It provides a lifeline for those with disabilities and allows them to retain their independence.
Dr Abubaker, Secretary and Acting Head at Al-Maktoum College, said: “Supporting local community groups and charities in Dundee is, and always has been, an integral aspect of the work we do here at the College.
Over the years we have granted more than £120,000 to various groups who have benefited greatly from our financial assistance.
Shopmobility offer a valued service to the community and we are pleased that our funding will play a part in their plans to purchase new equipment for public use”.
The Community Fund is now open for applications for 2020 grants. Further details can be found on the Al-Maktoum College Community Fund page.
