Overseas students meet with HM Consul General Dubai during visit to Al-Maktoum College

Students taking part in a prestigious educational summer school programme at Al-Maktoum College, Scotland, attended a talk today (Monday) by Mr Andrew Jackson, HM Consul General Dubai and Director of Trade and Investment in the UAE.

Mr Jackson talked about the historical and continued strong relationship that exists between the UK and the UAE at all levels in all sectors of the economy but in particular the growth in the education sector. He stated, “I am delighted to be here today, to share my own personal and professional work experiences, in line with the theme of the programme, leadership and management”.

“I am most excited however, to learn about your own experiences in leadership and the potential challenges you might have faced. He continued, “opening up discussions into your individual areas of study and work, combined with my own experiences, will make for some very fascinating and insightful conversations”.

Acting Head of College, Dr A G Abubaker said “We are honoured to welcome Mr Andrew Jackson today and thank him for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk to the visiting students. The aim of the Summer School programme is to prepare students for future careers in leadership and management as well as to introduce them to Scottish history and culture. I am confident that Mr Jackson’s experiences will prove inspiring for the students”.

Over 65 female students representing 16 different institutions in the UAE and Malaysia have travelled to Scotland, to take part in the College programme. Over the course of 4 weeks, students will attend lectures in multiculturalism and leadership, as well as enjoy excursions to popular Scottish attractions followed by a final trip to Dublin.

Unique to Scotland, the Al-Maktoum College is pleased to be one of the only higher education institutions in the country to offer these educational programmes to overseas female only students and looks forward to their continued success.
