College becomes Platinum Partner of DACC

Al-Maktoum College, Dundee’s only independent higher education institution, has reinforced its commitment to Dundee by accepting an invitation to become a Platinum Partner of Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce.

The Platinum Partnership is reflective of the close and mutually beneficial relationship between the College and the Chamber of Commerce (DACC), which has been developed over several years.

Dr Abi Abubaker, Head of Al-Maktoum College said:

“We are honoured to take our place as a Platinum Partner alongside some of Dundee’s biggest businesses. As an independent provider of higher education we have a keen interest in the societal and economic success of Dundee and becoming a Platinum Partner of the Chamber of Commerce allows us to play an even greater part in the city’s future. It’s good too that we take our place alongside the Universities of Dundee and Abertay, as we have strong academic links with both institutions.

“The coronavirus situation, and its effect on our city’s economy is a challenge that will be overcome only by the entire business community working together. It is now more important than ever that our businesses and institutions engage effectively with each other, and with our Platinum Partnership status we will be well positioned to do just that.”

DACC Chief Executive Alison Henderson

“Our Platinum members include some of the biggest names in our region’s economy including DC Thomson, the University of Dundee and Balhousie Care Group.

“We’re very proud to welcome Al-Maktoum College as a Platinum Member, particularly at this time when organisations are facing so many challenges. The College has been a great supporter of the Chamber in recent years, and it is fitting that they now rank alongside our highest profile members. Our work together to deepen strong connections between Dundee and Dubai for business and community benefit will support the future economy, locally and nationally.”
