The College campus offers an inspiring, relaxed and friendly atmosphere for both teaching and learning. It provides everything students may need during their studies and is conveniently located close to the City Centre, Abertay University and the University of Dundee.

Inside the College, facilities are of an excellent standard and the College continues to invest in these facilities, to ensure it is providing the best services for its students.


Teaching is carried out through a combination of lectures and tutorials; independent study is also expected. The College has one large lecture theatre in use and several smaller seminar rooms.

Students may be assessed through written essays, class tests, exams, presentations, group work and participation through the Virtual Learning Environment- Moodle.

Each member of teaching staff have designated office hours in which students may visit for extra support.

In addition to teaching spaces, students may want to make use of the Shaikh Hamdan Library, the Shaikh Maktoum Gardens, IT suite, Student Hub and Common Room containing a TV, seating, and vending machines.


College students are eligible for discounted prices at the University of Dundee’s Institute of Sport and Exercise .

Car Parking

Currently, parking facilities are not available to students. If possible, alternative forms of transport to and from the College is encouraged.


The Shaikh Hamdan Library, located on the Ground floor the College, impressively houses a large collections of Arabic, Middle Eastern and Islamic readings. Students and visitors alike have access to over 23,000 volumes spread across two rooms:

Arabic Collection

Mostly reference works on a variety of subjects, all in Arabic.

English Collection

Lending and reference works related to currently-taught programmes on a variety of subjects, all in English.

The library also has subscriptions for the following journals:

  • British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies
  • International Journal of Middle East Studies
  • Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations
  • Journal of Islamic Studies
  • Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs
  • Journal of Qur’anic Studies
  • The Muslim World

The library also provides study and research space for students, equipped with computers and sufficient desk space.

The Library is open from 09.00-18.00, Monday – Friday
