Dr Mohammad Alsaghir

Lecturer in Political Economy and Sustainable Development

Biography

Dr Alsaghir joined the Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education in September 2020. He is the programme coordinator for the Diploma in Moral Economy and Sustainable Development, and lectures for the MSc in Islamic Finance at the University of Dundee. He studied BSc in Business Management and Accounting from the prestigious School of Economics in Damascus University, Syria. He pursued his postgraduate studies in the UK, achieving an MBA in International Finance and MA in Islamic Banking, Finance and Management from Loughborough University. He completed his doctoral studies in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Durham. He is an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK. His research is focused on Middle East development, moral economy, Islamic accounting methods, Family economics, sustainable development, Islamic environmentalism, and green economics.

Research Interests

Dr Alsaghir’s academic interests include Sustainable Development, Middle East Studies, International Relations, International Development, Political Economy, Islamic Banking and Finance.
