Help in funding your studies

There are 2 funding awards available for students studying in the academic year 2022-23.

The Academic Excellence Scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit. That is, scholarships will be awarded to students whose applications demonstrate the highest level of academic distinction in their studies.

The Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Bursaries are awarded to students based upon personal circumstances. These awards are issued to support students who may face financial difficulties in attending and funding full-time education.

How to apply

You must have applied and received an offer of study before applying for a bursary or scholarship.

After you have firmly accepted your offer of study, please email admissions@almcollege.ac.uk to request access to the application form.

Funding applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and students should note that an application does not guarantee an award.

Offer holders for the Academic Excellence Scholarship will be automatically reviewed and no application is needed. If you have already received an offer, you will receive a separate decision on this scholarship.

All students will be invited for an interview.

Academic Excellence Scholarship

This is a scholarship of £2,000 which will be awarded as a tuition fee discount.

This scholarship is available to students who meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold an offer of study at Al-Maktoum College for one of the following:
  • MSc Law & Sustainability
  • MSc Moral Economy & Sustainability
  • MSc Strategic Organisational Learning
  • Professional Diploma in Islamic Banking & Finance
  • Executive Diploma in Islamic Finance & Entrepreneurship
  • Diploma in Moral Economy & Sustainability
  • Advanced Diploma in Islamic Studies
  1. Have demonstrated excellence in your academic career (a good honours degree or equivalent) or relevant work experience

Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Bursaries

These bursaries will be awarded on a case-by-case basis and the amount may differ depending on need and eligibility.

Applications will only be accepted from students who meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold an offer of study at Al-Maktoum College full-time, on-campus for one of the following:
  • MPhil in The Middle East in a Global Context
  • HNC/D in Business
  • HNC/Diploma in Management & Leadership
  • HNC/D in Human Resource Management
  • Professional Diploma in Organisational Learning
  • Introductory Certificate in Arabic Language
  • Certificate in Arabic Language
  • Diploma in Arabic Language
  1. Plus at least one of the following:
  • You have a household income of less than £24,001 per year
  • You are an Asylum Seeker or Refugee
  • You have Carer or Young Carer responsibilities
  • Other (please detail in your statement)

Applications should include a statement about why you should be awarded a scholarship and how this will help you in your studies. The statement should include the following information:

  • Details of other members of your household, for example, siblings in education
  • How you meet the criteria as outlined below
  • Any other funding applications, for example, government loans or university scholarships
  • Details of current employment and any plans to continue working during your studies
