Students Guidance update (COVID-19)

Last reviewed: 01 June 2020

Following the change in the UK Government’s strategy to increase social distancing and impose remote working, Al-Maktoum College have suspended all face to face teaching and attendance for all classes until further notice.

For the remainder of this term teaching and assessment will be delivered using online resources and you should therefore not attend any classes (lectures, tutorials, seminars, etc.) until notified otherwise.

The College building is now closed until further notice, however its professional services will continue to function.

Students will be guided by their class tutors who will provide subject-specific information about the new teaching and assessment arrangements being put in place.  Students will be expected to attend virtual classes in accordance with their current teaching timetable.  Additionally, students will be expected to use our virtual learning platforms: Moodle and Microsoft Teams, under the guidance of teaching staff.  These new mechanisms mean students can still achieve their learning outcomes. Access Moodle here.

The College is fully committed to supporting students in any way possible and understands that this is a difficult time for all. We appreciate that you will be concerned about achieving your course and can advise that the Scottish Government is liaising with SQA, other awarding bodies and universities regarding achievement and progression and further updates will follow as soon as they are available.

The College will continue to follow the advice of government agencies on how to deal with this unprecedented situation and maintain contact with all staff and students through website, email and social media channels.

What is clear is that the situation will continue to rapidly change over the next while and students will receive updates from the College via the website, email and social media channels.
